Hereford Contact Karate Club held their first Invitational Karate competition of the year on 30th March 2003. This Competition was the first in a Grand Prix series of three karate events spread throughout the year.
The event was also the first in a Semi-Contact Mixed Martial Arts Grand Prix, with ground fighting and Ju-Jutsu Kumite events to follow later in the year.
Competitors from HCKC, Oxford ECKA, Shrewsbury ECKA and The Combat Academy competed for trophies and points within the Grand Prix's.
The competition was a huge success, with all competitors showing a good level of skill and two competitors receiving Fighting Spirit awards.
