The Hereford Contact Karate Club celebrated their success at the recent ECKA National Semi Contact Championships held in
Birmingham. The team of eight adults and four cadets brought a
total of ten medals back to Hereford.
Double Gold went to Dave Coles. Coles who predominently is a judo and jujutsu champion, completed his first ever karate
competition in style by defeating all his opponents in both the Mens Red/Orange belt +78Kg and the Over 35 Open catergory.
Caroline Pillion completed her own double in taking the Ladies Red/Orange -60kgs title for the second year running.
Dan Mills took a silver in the Youths Open section and also a bronze medal in the Green/Brown -74kgs in which team mate
Simon Hornby brought home the silver in the same catergory
Bronze medals were won by Sam Harper and Emma Baker in
Ladies 60Kgs and Girls -5ft4 respectively. John Milward also took a bronze medal in the mens Over 35 Open
and was unlucky not to go further after having to withdraw through injury.
Club Instructor Simon Small stormed his way to the final of the Mens Black belt +78Kgs, but unfortunately was forced into bringing home the Silver for the third consecutive year.
