Dave Cooter: White - Green belt + 90kg. Gold Medal.
Competing in only his second Judo competition Dave started the day with two Ippon wins and a loss in the pool section. This placed him in the semi-final where he threw his opponent for Ippon with Ura-nage. In the final he again faced the fighter who he had lost to in the pools. Dave certainly had gained from his earlier loss and after an exchange of throwing techniques had taken the pair into Ne-waza, Dave secured a hold for Ippon and a well deserved Gold Medal.
Mike Williams: white - green belt u 90kg: Silver Medal. After being thrown for waza-ari early in his first fight, Mike replied by throwing his oppponent for ippon with tomoe-nage. Another 10 point win (O-uchi-gari) in his next fight placed Mike in the final. Despite being a waza-ari and a yuko up with one minute to go, Mike made the tactical mistake of looking for the ippon and was himself thrown for 10.
