Combat Academy fighters Dean Bradbury and Jeremy Kemp made their Amateur MMA debut at the ML Sports Open Trials held at Hereford Leisure Centre.
In his first fight Jeremy faced Lee Bishop of Barnstaple Combat Sports. Lee is an experienced Mixed Martial Artist who recently marked his professional rules debut with a win on the Angrrr Management show.
Lee delivered some punishing leg kicks early in the fight and made some strong submission attempts when the fight went to the ground. Jeremy showed some good submission defence and a mandatory draw was awarded after the fight went the distance.
In his second fight Jeremy faced Mark Handley of Oswestry Elite Martial Arts. This was to be one of the fights of the day as the pair engaged in four minutes of non-stop action. Countless telling strikes were landed by the pair including some very heavy knees from Jeremy, and a guillotine attempt by Mark had Jeremy defending frantically to avoid the submission.

In his first fight Dean faced Pete George of Barnstaple Combat Sports. Pete has had two previous amateur fights recording draws on both occasions. In his second fight Dean faced the very experienced Adrian Dimberline from Team Retribution. Adrian has had 20 Amateur fights and was a finalist at the 2005 and 2006 Combat Sports National Championships.
Both fights were very evenly matched and Dean showed good composure, making some good submission attempts and showing some effective ground fighting skills en-route to recording two draws.
